Miwako is a bubbly, deeply sensitive, creative and stylish young woman. She’s a senior high school student at Yazawa School of the Arts in Tokyo, where she studies fashion design. Though her older sister, whom she admires more than anyone in the world, is a bold and successful fashion designer who’s been a standout visionary all her life, Miwako is far more passive and feels she lacks the originality to start her own clothing brand like her sister did. She instead eagerly sews clothes designed by her friend and classmate George, who is a natural genius like Miwako’s sister. Together with George’s ladylike pattern-maker best friend Isabella, Miwako’s punk long-time boyfriend Arashi, and their passionate aspiring model Yukari Caroline, Miwako works hard to bring George’s elegant visions to life to create their own fledgling brand, Paradise Kiss.

In Avalon, her own dreams are coming true slowly but surely, given a pedestal and window of opportunity she was never able to reach for at home. Without Mikako's designs as a mirror on the market beside hers, Miwako's designs can shine on their own. Her problem is not that she's bad at designing; it's that her designs look like copycats of her sister's style by unconscious nature, which would shoot Miwako in the foot as a designer competing with her idol. Here? There is no Happy Berry to compete with. Mikako's designs are good and Happy Berry is a success back home. If Miwako's designs are natural mirrors to Mikako's... then here, she can succeed, living outside her sister's shadow for the first time in her life. She can be her own person, make her own art, and start her own brand — and will never hear the name "Kouda Mikako" brought up unless she brings it up herself. Which she will — often, and enthusiastically — but with a new brand of vigor. Happy Berry is no longer a dream to admire, but an example to follow.

[ Her voice is but a whisper, not really sure what to say to that, but knowing it means he was hurt badly if he's scarred badly... She's a normal seventeen-year-old girl who goes to a prestigious art school in a nice part of Tokyo surrounded by successful artists and low-level celebrities as her friends and family. She has little to no experience with battle or physical pain. But emotional pain, she can at least tap into some, enough to worry, even for things that have already long-since happened. She knows it's a practical matter for his work as a model that he mentions it — and she can only assume the scars are to do with his work as a bodyguard, naturally — but her bleeding heart can't just overlook that. She's come to like Gokudera after their first meeting, more than just for his good looks, and she's reactive, easily alarmed, easily defensive. But it's also not her place to ask "what happened," so she bites her tongue. ]

...Mmn. We won't show it.

[He won't make eye contact with her reaction, the way she asks like she knows it's private. Gokudera just needs her to accept that he wants her to help him keep that part of himself hidden.

He isn't sure if the scars came from his heroism on Amoi and the torture he endured after being captured by the black market, or if the scars and everything loaded in from his death in Anchor. Either way, both stories are dark and he isn't comfortable telling her, because it's not anything nice to listen to. She can see them when and if she would like, and he trusts her. She may only notice the burns. The tally-marks cut in aren't so deep and prominent... but they're there... reminders that seemed to come back with and haunt him when he came back to life on that alien planet.]

[ She's a nosy person but even she can tell where there are lines drawn not to cross. This is a work concern, not a personal one, for their purposes. But even then... stories of unsightly scars, she's not even certain she'd want to know. ]

[Gokudera has one smoking skull tattoo that moves about and chatters, speech bubbles occasionally accompany it that read out embarrassing things about him. It was on his bicep this morning, but it isn't there anymore. Hm, it isn't always visible, but it is in his hair, peeking out just behind his ear so that it's upside down and all that can be seen is the smoke trail coming off the top, and the eye sockets that make it look like it's peeking out.]

It moves around sometimes. I don't know where it is.

[ She does not care that they're in public. You find that tattoo, Bingo-kun. Miwako frantically reaches into her bag and pulls out a (surprise, sparkly Happy Berry-shaped) compact mirror, handing it to him across the table should he need it. They're doing this right here, right now, apparently. She's over the moon delighted by this information. Nosy girl. ]

[Gokudera blinks surprise at her offer, then chuckles and pushes his chair back so he can push up his pant legs. Nope, nothing on the ankles or shins, then he's putting them back down and looking inside his shirt. Nope, not there. Gokudera would have her help him check his back, but he doesn't want to show it, and again, they are in public.]

Should I go to the bathroom?

[Maybe it is on his back, or his thigh? Or the back of an arm or something. It could even be on the bottom of his foot. He has no clue. This feels like the wrong sort of situation for him to be strip-searching in the name of finding a magic, permanent tattoo.]

[He's got no problem showing her, but it's definitely not in a spot either of them can see right now. Gokudera hands her mirror back.]

There was a magic tournament. Before it, there was a lot of food and it was almost like a big festival. There was face painting and actual tattoos that were magic. It's almost like they drew it on me and the ink was magic or something? I didn't ask. I just assumed it was magic and left it at that. Are your piercings only in your ears?

Double, triple, quadruple-abroad, from being spirited away from being spirited away already! She can't fully fathom and there's a part of her brain that's shut itself off (there aren't too many spare parts to shut off, oh no!) since being here when it comes to trying to make sense of the fantastical like that. No. Nothing soft like that. Iskandar had many lovers. I was one of them. I dated a demi-god once... and had some hookups with a volleyball player, but it was never anything as steady as dating.

Feels like we kind of skipped that. He was a spirit, and could go through walls and doors and be summoned if I called his name loud enough. There was a time once he came to see me when I finally got to live with an Elite, but uh... that wasn't allowed and I was punished. You could say it was a forbidden romance or that my uh, roommate was possessive of me and when he caught us together, he suddenly would not let me go and... it was a very bad relationship.

[Gokudera hasn't explained to her about him being a pet and isn't sure if he should. Or what the best way to explain around that would be.]
